Google to abandon older browsers

Google have announced plans to cease support for older browsers. This can only be good news for those of us looking forward to using application functionality through the browser. HTML5 (not supported in older browsers) allows amongst other things local storage. This means you'll be able to work on your gmail offline (without gears plugin) and run webapps offline. Native video, canvas and geographic features are part of HTML5 too. This makes 'cloud' apps a practicality even for those on the move and without a fixed internet connection. A good news story for www.thirdwayit.co.uk who are fully behind the cloud concept as a way of saving cost and effort on locals servers.
